The goal of this course is to help students build on their understanding of children as embedded in a time and context. The implications for educational programs in general and assessment, in particular, are discussed.

Governments across Canada have recently implemented or are contemplating new policies that will have substantial impacts on the way children grow up. This course introduces students to some of the research that underlies these initiatives.


Social and Emotional Development and its Applications

This course is designed to build on students’ knowledge of children’s social and emotional development, examine methodological issues in research, and explore how theory and research in this area are translated into real-world applications.
